Dad fell last week and fractured his hip. On this episode, we’re updating everyone on his health and telling the story of his injury and treatment as a way into talking about what we’ve learned and what we need to know related to hospice care, Medicaid, Medicare, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and Longterm Care.

Bill I am your cousin from your grandma’s side. Our grandmother’s were sisters. Your dad is a good guy. I can relate to your experiences. My wife was in a Nursing home during COVID. They were terrible to her. She is at home but she doesn’t get out much. She has a disease called CIDP. She has nurses come to our house every 2 weeks for 2 days. We can relate. I am so happy your family takes care of your dad. After my wife’s dad died her siblings put all the health care for her mom on her. She barely had any help. I would have helped but that was before we found each other. When my parents died I was too young to help. It’s great thing your family is doing that. Not every family does that. I want to tell you that if you have any medical questions you can go to mayoclinic.com. You can also contact me. My wife is a nurse.
Lastly, ask your dad if he remembers going fishing with my brother, his cousin Chuck. Maybe hunting? Maybe he would remember me. Not sure.
God bless you and your family for taking care of your dad!

Hi Mark! Thanks so much for your kind words and for sharing your story. We are blessed to have a group of Torgs here to help each other in times of need. I will ask dad about the fishing!
I was asking dad about you today. Dad said he and Chuck fished all the time off the swinging bridge. He said you were a heck of a guy. It prompted a bunch of stories that I sort of followed. 🙂
