Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms! On this episode of the Torg Stories Podcast, Anne and I tell mom memories, we talk NBA Playoffs, and Ted Lasso Season 3, Episode 9.
A celebration of my mom Carol Sue and my wife Megan:
- The time I broke mom’s ankle: I once took out our mom, Carol Sue, sliding into her ankle during a Wiffle ball game in the barn yard of our Twelve Mile, Indiana house. Thanks to mom for playing games with us and finding all kinds of ways to keep us going out in the country of Indiana!
- My wife Megan is the sweetest Mom. She’s gives our daughters multiple tender-voiced wake ups. (as opposed to my loud / gruff ones). She is looking for thoughtful little things she can do for the kids. She’s responding to requests for cut up apples after 10 PM when the kids are on the couch. Thanks Megan for being such a thoughtful and tender-hearted mom to our kids!
Thanks to all the new subscribers last week. That made me think it’s been a while since I told listeners how they might do that.

Anne, what did you get wrong about the Celtics vs. Knicks series?
What did I get wrong about the Knicks / Celtics series?
- I didn’t realize how not creative the Celtics offense is. They don’t do much where the offense might make a mistake, as in a fake handoff, a diagonal screen to the block, staggers where players might run different cuts.
- Especially in the first game, Brunson was able to do more than I thought possible. The second game looked more like I’d thought it would look for Brunson on offense: 6-19 for 17 points.
- Celtics in their about threes and the midrange. I think in game 2 we saw why maybe 40 threes and 50 around the rim is a good formula.
- An example of a solution: just something like a screen that is going to take Tatum or Brown to the block against a smaller player where the Knicks have to decide what they are doing.
Ted Lasso Season 3, Episode 9 titled “La Locker Room Aux Folles”
What is La Cage aux Folles?
- 1973 French play that tells the story of a gay couple.
- First Broadway musical centered on homosexual relationship
- MGM movie. Click here for trailer.
The big news from this episode of Ted Lasso:
- Issac is only player that knows Collin is gay. He gets kicked out of a game for something a fan says. Collin tells the team he is gay.
- Keeley writes a bunch of texts in a row to Jack. Why do we think she still wants to be with her?
- Roys skips and then later does a press conference.
- Nate bows out of Rupert’s boys night out.
Quick touch on NBA playoff series:
- Cleveland vs. Indiana: I see how important Mobley and Garland are. Garland 10 points in 25 minutes allow Mitchell to rest. Mobley 13 rebounds and 3 blocks. Mitchell is better than I realized. 43 points.
- Minnesota vs. Golden State: I am as confident Minnesota will roll in this as much as I was that the Celtics would beat the Knicks.
Notes for discussion for Season 3, Episode 9 of Ted Lasso:
- Starts with practice, is that to a musical number? Bigger crowd watching. Total football working great. Issac not talking to Collin.
- Oh God, you sent a double text. What are texting rules? LOL on Keeley’s texts: so much blue says Rebecca. Jack isn’t texting her back.
- Roy supposed to do the press conference. Heart Bent as country music title.
- Jade brings lunch to Nate at work. She meets Rupert.
- Roy must have passed the press conference on to Beard. (musical opinions, Beard had them) Sick of Roy being Roy. What is Anne being Anne?
- Rebecca wants to know what Roy wants.
- West Ham does bubbles, I guess.
- Halftime altercation with Issac / fan.
- Roy goes to talk to Issac. Roy says deal with your anger or you’ll mess up everything you do care about.
- We don’t see Collin tell the team. Ted says we should care. From now on, you don’t have to go through it all by yourself. Jamie: you got us mate; we got you.
- Nate goes to guys night out with Rupert.
- Roy takes the press conference. Stories as answers to questions.
- Anger as topic.
- What the price of a ticket buys you, as far as yelling.
- Nate goes home to Jade.
- Issac goes to talk to Collin. He says, “You lied to me for years.” They talk it out playing FIFA.
