It’s the What’s the Difference? episode of the Torg Stories Podcast. Why can’t Bill even remember Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran’s names? What’s the difference between TikTok and Instagram? Asheville and Boone? On this episode, we point out the obvious and the less obvious.

Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles

• Both were born in England and both have Ed as one of their names. Is that why I get confused?
• Sheeran has a red combover and likes black glasses. Styles wears extravagant outfits, sort of reminds me of Elton John outfits at his wildest.
• Sheeran was in a movie named Yesterday in which the protagonist seems to be the only person who ever heard the songs of the Beatles. Harry Styles was in Don’t Worry Darling.

Asheville and Boone, NC

• In Boone it is possible to drive downtown and find a parking spot, even if you have to pay a little for it. In Asheville, you are likely to drive around 20 minutes downtown sitting in traffic and looking for a spot.
• What I think are the best things in Asheville are places to eat and hear music such as the Salvage Station and the French Broad River. What I think are the best things in Boone are all of the nearby hikes such as Boone Fork, the Lineville Falls area, and the areas around Moses Cone.
• Live music and food is fantastic in Asheville while the pace and the crush of tourists is moderated in Boone. The pace of living in Boone is turned down in a way I like.
• Asheville has over 94k people and Boone over 19K but 20k students.

TikTok and Instagram

• I mostly only post on Instagram and that’s on a WHS women’s account because I feel like that’s where the players want it. I see some pics from former players there. I don’t go there for info or entertaining. I look at TikTok several times a day. What do I watch? Basketball plays, workouts, Ted Lasso videos, quite a bit of movie clips, a guy who cuts people’s lawns for free.
• TikTok had 1.5 billion monthly active users in 2023 and is expected to reach 1.8 billion by the end of 2024. Sprout Social says 2 billion monthly users on Instagram.

Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics

• Boston won 64 regular season games and Mavericks won 50. The Celtics really improved by getting Porzingis and Jrue Holiday before the season and the Mavs improved by drafting Lively from Duke, and getting Washington and Gafford in a trade. Click here for article about the trade.
• When I think of the modern Celtics, I think of Tatum and Brown. When I think of the modern Mavs, I think of Luka, Kyrie, and Mark Cuban.
• I think of Cuban as the Mavs biggest fan and I think of Bill Simmons, Mark Wahlberg, Affleck and Matt Damon as Celtics fans.
